Allow me to find you
I use an RSS reader to read blogs.
I often want to read posts in the original website, especially if I like the website’s reading experience.
In order to do this, I usually tap the post title in my RSS reader and that leads me to the associated URL in the original poster’s website.
Now, if you decided to change the URL for some reason, I won’t find your post. I will hit a 404 (if you have that set up). This will probably lead me to frustration and then go back and read another post from another person.
Enter URL redirects. You can do this quite simply in Bear Blog or you can look up how to do it in your particular blogging platform.
Trust me, you’ll be doing a favor to those of us who read you via RSS, the crawling bots, the AI bots, an who knows who else.
