Browser tabs are distracting

I was trying to think, more like trying to find a soultion to a problem at work. This team I'm working with is relatively new so I'm experimenting with different written communication, let's say: techniques.

So there I was, trying to focus, watching at the markdown.co.in markdown editor cursor thingy blinking in a fluorescent yellow (because that's how the dark mode looks) and it hit me: not only this interface was distracting to me but what's making all my new work distracting is having more that 2 tabs open.

Granted, this is a me problem, but the more tabs I open, the less focused I can be. Arc solved this for me with tabs that only appeared when needed or maybe the fact that they were vertical.

Arc is now long gone for me and I'm stuck with the ol' regular horizontal tabs with favicons and noise. I know Chome is rolling out vertical tabs but I think what I need is either for them to disappear (like a focus mode) or, I don't know, maybe I should accept I can't work with more than 2 tabs and leave it at that.

Maybe tabs are not distracting, maybe it's me that was never too keen on tabs because I couldn't (and still can't) hold my attention when the header is crammed with stuff like a Word ribbon or something.
